Everything you need to know about getting your Ontario security guard licence through OSGTC.

The Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services requires a 40-hour curriculum covering 11 topic areas: Introduction to the Security Industry, Private Security and Investigative Services Act, Code of Conduct, basic security procedures, report writing, health & safety, emergency response preparation, Canadian legal aspects, effective communication, sensitivity training, and use of force theory. You also need Emergency First Aid with CPR/AED certification.

Yes. Our program is based on the Ontario guidelines provided by the Ministry and fully qualifies you to write the Ministry exam. OSGTC is an Ontario-certified training facility — not all online providers can say this.

You access our online classroom 24/7 and complete lessons that include videos, learning activities, resources, and quizzes. The lesson text is read to you, and each section includes a test to confirm you understand the material. You can get help from instructors 7 days a week.

365 days from the date of registration — 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Most competitors only give you 31 days. We give you a full year to complete your training at your own pace.

You'll need your Training Completion Number (TCN), which we issue upon completion of your 40-hour course. You then book your exam through Serco DES at a DriveTest Centre near you. The exam is 60 multiple-choice questions, 75 minutes, and requires a 62% passing grade. Cost is $35 + HST ($39.55 total).

No. Emergency First Aid with CPR/AED must be completed in person through an approved provider like St. John Ambulance or CanadaCPR. It's typically an 8-hour day and costs $100–125. We provide links to approved facilities near you and will help you find one.

We guarantee you will pass — or we refund your course fees. We have a 99% student success rate. Our course includes extensive practice exams and quizzes designed to identify and strengthen your weak areas before you write the real test.

You must be 18 years of age or older, eligible to work in Canada, and have no convictions for prescribed offences for which you haven't been granted a pardon.

Once you complete payment, you'll receive your login credentials within 24 hours (business days) and can begin the course right away.

Yes. All bar staff acting as security guards in Ontario must complete the 40-hour training course as mandated by law. This includes bouncers, doormen, and anyone performing security functions at licensed establishments.

The complete cost breakdown: OSGTC course ($99 + HST) + First Aid/CPR ($100–125) + Ministry exam ($39.55) + Licence application ($80) = approximately $331–$356 total. Our $99 + HST course fee is the most affordable certified training in Ontario.
